Worx is a Chinese brand that designs and manufactures gardening equipment as well as power tools for its users. The company has been working on these devices for a long time now and has come up with several lineups.

You should note that the older tools had high power ratings, but the main drawback with them was that you had to keep them connected to an outlet. Worx has now started manufacturing tools that run on batteries instead.

These are cordless and can last you a long time without any issues. The tools are also quite compact, which makes it easier for users to carry them around no matter where they go.

With that being said, the lithium-ion battery from Worx is amazing, but there are also some problems that you can run into with it.

People have been reporting several issues with their batteries which is why we will be using this article to help you out. Below are some common problems that you can run into, along with ways that can be used to fix them.

Worx Lithium-Ion Battery Problems

  1. Batteries Not Charging

The most common problem people report with their tools is that the batteries stop charging. This can be quite annoying as you cannot use the tool unless the batteries are charged.

Though, you should note that lithium-ion batteries are known for their efficient power use and fast charging. The main reason why you might be running into an issue like this can be because of your batteries overheating.

This can happen due to several reasons. For instance, the batteries might be running for a long time, or you might be using your tool in a hot climate.

As long as the battery or its charger is overheating, people cannot charge them. This is a security feature implemented by Worx to ensure that the device does not get damaged. The only thing people can do is wait until the devices cool down.

You can then plug your battery back inside the charger, and it should start charging without any issues. Keep in mind that if you are trying to store the batteries in a cold area, then keeping them away from moisture is important.

This can travel inside the battery, damaging it along with any tool you place the battery inside.

Aside from this, if you ever notice the batteries heating up, then you should stop using them on your own instead of waiting for the tool to stop its connection.

  1. Charged Battery But Tool Still Not Running

Another common problem that tons of people report with their lithium-ion batteries from Worx is that the tool does not run even if the battery is charged.

If you are getting this issue, then one of the reasons behind it can also be that the batteries are overheating. Though, if you have already gone through the steps mentioned above, then the problem might be from your connection.

The battery that you install inside your tool is connected using the small terminals on its top. If these are covered with dust or debris, then the tools will have trouble trying to establish a connection.

The best way to fix the issue is by removing your battery and then cleaning the terminals.

Make sure that you clean both the battery as well as the compartment where the battery will be installed. Doing so should help you in getting rid of your problem.

  1. Minimal Output

Another issue that some owners have to deal with is minimal output from the unit, even though it has been on the charger for a while.

You will also run into the same issue while working with this battery pack, and it is one of the more serious problems.

Most of the time, you might just be dealing with a defective cell inside the battery. Sadly, there are no quick fixes here, and you will have a pretty challenging time trying to adjust the system.

Before reaching out to the experts, you can take a peek at the contact points to isolate the issue.

If you didn’t clean up the unit in a while, then now might be a good time to blast it with compressed air. It will not take much of your time, and you will be sorted when it comes to fixing the battery. So, be sure to check up on the unit accordingly.

If you’re lucky, cleaning the terminals will have you sorted. However, if the issue is with the battery cell, then you’re out of options. The first thing that you can do is to reach out to the dealer and demand a replacement.

While these issues are not that common in new units, you might be unlucky enough to get a defective unit.

Luckily, this brand stands fully behind all of its products, and you can claim that warranty right away. So, there is no point in getting concerned when you’re stuck in these issues.

All that you have to do is to reach out to the dealer and then explain your end. He will take a while to verify your claim and then point you in the right direction.

If everything goes well, you will be sorted in no time, and the situation will be addressed accordingly.

  1. Battery Expanding

Similar to the previous situation, this issue can be equally as serious, and you will struggle to fix it on your end, depending upon the condition of the battery.

If you’re just dealing with a small spot and the situation is not that rough, all that you need to do is to limit the charging time.

Along with that, you need to also check up on the voltage supplied by the outlet. It will take a while to adapt to this situation, but you’re not left with many options.

So, be sure to check up on the voltage side of things to isolate and address the issues with this system.

From there, you should just make sure that the battery pack is never charged beyond the 80 percent mark. While having the battery on 100 percent all the time might sound like a great thing to do, it will only have a negative impact on the unit.

compatible

Finally, you need to also check on the compatibility of the battery with the charger.

It is not that rare for issues with the charger to impact the battery, and you might be in the same boat. So, try and address the situation accordingly when you’re stuck in these errors.

Lastly, you can also reach out to the official support team on this issue.

These experts will take care of the unit on their end, and you will not have to deal with more errors down the road. It all comes down to the final condition of the unit, and seeking help from the officials is never a bad idea.

You might just have a lot of hassle that way, and there is a good chance that you will be able to secure a fresh piece by asking the official support team.

  1. Faulty Battery

Finally, one more issue that people can run into with their batteries is that they might be damaged. This happens mostly when you have been using the product for a long time.

Lithium-ion batteries gradually lose their ability to hold a charge, after which they have to be replaced with a new one. Keep in mind that this is completely normal, and you will have to get the battery replaced after several years.

faulty

On the other hand, if the battery stops working after a short period of using it, then something might be wrong. You can test the power ratings on the battery using a voltmeter to confirm your issue.

If the battery is faulty, then contact the support team for Worx to help you out. They will look into your problem and provide you with several solutions that can be used.

Wrapping Up

Managing a battery is not the easiest task, and you might run into some snags down the road when relying on the Worx Lithium-Ion Battery. Luckily, most of the issues with this system are easy to fix, and you will not have to worry about that many errors.

It all comes down to the hardware side of things, and you need to make sure that the battery is not damaged or swollen. Otherwise, you will not be able to fix the unit yourself, and managing the device will become increasingly harder.

The only thing that you can do about a damaged battery is to get a new one. There are no quick fixes here, and you need to reach out to the official support for a replacement.

Hopefully, you will be able to avoid any extra hassle, and getting a fresh piece will not be that hard of a job.

Lastly, if the warranty is void, then you’re not left with many options here.

You will have to make the purchase of a new unit, and there are no quick methods to avoid that cost. So, all that you need to do is to get that fresh piece, and you will be sorted in no time.
