DeWalt Cordless Framing Nailer Problems

  1. Not Firing Properly

One of the common problems that you might have to face on the DeWalt cordless framing nailer is that it might not be firing up properly, and that could certainly be problematic for you to have since that will cause you to have some issues with the nails not have the right strength and not only that.

It will also cause you to have some other issues with the nails getting stuck inside the barrel. That is why you will need to ensure that you are fixing it up in the right manner.

The first thing that you need to check is the battery charging levels, and if it is below a certain level, that could be the reason for you to face this issue.

So, you will need to ensure that you are getting the battery charged, and it will fix all the problems for you.

You might also need to check for rust inside the barrel and ensure that you are getting it lubricated properly with machine oil to ensure a smoother flow of your nails.

  1. Leaking Air

Another common issue that you might have to face on the DeWalt Cordless Framing nailer has to do with the leakage of air, and that is something you will need to fix for sure.

The air leakage can cause your framing nailer to lose power or have no power at all. Most of the time, the air leaks inside the nailer, and there are rubber seals that might have gotten hard over time or damaged due to some reason.

So, you need to inspect those seals properly and ensure that they don’t have any such problems on them that could be causing you to face the issue.

It would be better if you replace them from time to time, and that will help you to maintain the perfect efficiency on your framing nailer from DeWalt.

  1. Jamming Issues

It can be incredibly frustrating to deal with a unit that keeps jamming, and you will not be able to get any response out of the system.

There can be many pointers that can lead to this situation. So, you will have to do a bit of troubleshooting on your end to figure out the situation.

One of the most common reasons why you might run into this issue is that you’re using poor-quality nails.

There is no point in going cheap and trying to save a few bucks on the nail when they can damage the nailer itself. So, you’ll only be complicating the situation further.

To fix this situation, you need to first remove all the power from the unit and then remove the bolts from the front to access the chamber. The cartridge will come out, and you can clean it properly after removing the nail by force.

Be sure not to use too much force, as that can also create issues inside the cartridge.

From there, you can follow the same process to put everything back in place and then check up on the performance of the unit. Hopefully, you will not be disappointed, and the new nails will work perfectly.

Similarly, you should also set weekly reminders to keep track of the unit’s maintenance.

There is no such thing as one time fix when you’re aiming for the ideal response from the system. So, be sure to keep the nailer clean and only rely on high-quality nails. Otherwise, you will be stuck in more errors.

  1. Noise Issues

The issues with the noise can be equally as annoying and can mostly be linked to the motor.

Most of the time, the motor will start to act up when you’ve been using the nailer for a long period without any breaks. Moreover, if you live in a hot region, that can also have an impact on the nailer.

You will not be able to get any performance out of the unit when the motor is heating, and you should just remove all power from the nailer and let it cool down.

Leave it in a shaded region for about 20 minutes, and then try using the nailer one more time.

With that said, relying on some lubricant might also help you with these issues. You have to make sure that proper lube is applied to the moving sections, and that will create a layer of protection.

noise pollution

The unit won’t get worn out, and the performance will be smoother.

So, be sure to keep track of all of these pointers when you can’t seem to get a good enough response out of the nailer. It all comes down to how you’re planning on addressing the situation, and keeping track of these points will have you sorted in no time.

  1. Driver Won’t Work

Next, there might also be a situation where the driver assembly will give out on you. This can be one of the more serious errors, but the fix is still simple. All that you will have to do is to get a new driver assembly and install that on your unit.

You will be sorted in no time and won’t have to worry about more errors down the road. It all comes down to how you’re planning on addressing the situation, and keeping track of these points will have you sorted.

You can reach out to the official DeWalt support to get your hands on a new driver assembly, and they will be more than happy to provide you with a replacement. So, don’t hesitate to reach out when you are stuck in these errors.

  1. Not Firing At All

Lastly, a common issue that you can face on the DeWalt cordless framing nailer is that the nailer is unable to fire at all. It will power on just fine and will click as well, but the nail will not be fired from the nailer.

That problem mostly has to do with the nails you are using, and if they are not compatible with the nailer, you will have to face the problem since the feeder will not be able to feed the nailers on the barrel properly.

However, suppose the nails are compatible, and you are using the right size on them as well. In that case, you will also need to ensure that they are perfectly installed on the feeder if that is the issue.

They are getting stuck inside the feeder, which will cause you to have problems like DeWalt cordless nailer not firing, and aligning them right should get the job done for you.

So, there is no need to get concerned, and just following along with the pointers listed here will be enough to help you with these errors.

As long as you’re sure that there are no serious damages to the internal components, you will be sorted.

  1. Dewalt DWF83PL 21 degree pneumatic fails to fire 50% of the time in sequential trip. Contact trip works great. This has happened since new. 90-120 PSI. I use Dewalt sae 30 oil because that only what Home Depo stocks. I use Dewalt 21 degree plastic collated 3 inch framing nails. What is the problem?
