Having power tools at your home can be necessary for people who want to fix their stuff on their own. These devices ensure that you can complete your job much faster and efficiently.

Although, it is important to keep in mind that power tools can also be quite dangerous. This is why you should ensure that you take proper precautions to avoid any problems.

Talking about this, when it comes to purchasing these tools, you will notice that there are tons of companies manufacturing them. DeWalt is one of the best ones that you can go for, but there are also some issues with them.

Recently, people have been reporting that the DeWalt 20v Battery only charges two bars. If you are getting the same problem, then going through this article should help you in fixing this.

Methods to Solve DeWalt 20v Battery Only Charges to Two Bars

  1. Check Connections

The most common reason for your batteries to not charge properly can be an electrical problem. This is why it is important that you first ensure that your charger is plugged in tightly to the socket.

If you are still getting the same issue, then you can move on to testing your outlets. There are a few ways that you can use to test these.

One of these includes using a voltmeter to take readings of the socket. You can also plug in a lamp to your outlet and observe the light for any flickering.

This should confirm if there were any fluctuations in the current. If your outlet has a problem with it, then you should replace it with a new one to fix your issue. You can use another outlet to charge your batteries meanwhile.

  1. Connect Battery Tightly

Sometimes the reason why your batteries are only charging up to two bars can be that these have not been inserted into the charger tightly.

Considering this, the batteries only charged until the two bars were filled, but then they got disconnected.

This is why you should try taking off the 20v battery and then connecting it back in tightly.

Make sure that you put them in, ensuring that the metal contact sides are matching. This should help you in getting rid of the problem you were having.

  1. Charger Might Be Faulty

Finally, if you are still having the same problem, then there is a chance that your charger is defective. This is quite common, and a lot of people have complained about their chargers being faulty.

Additionally, there is no way to fix these on your own. This is why the only solution that you can go for is either purchasing a new charger.

Alternatively, if your device is still under warranty, then you can contact DeWalt and notify them about your issue.

They will then help you in getting a free replacement through their warranty service.

If you aren’t sure how this works, then we recommend that you go through the information provided in the manual that came along with the product. You can also find a copy of this by visiting the official website for DeWalt.

  1. Check For Water Damage

You need to check the condition of the charger as well as the battery connection for water damage. You will have to make sure that the humidity and moisture around the unit are kept to a minimum.

Otherwise, the connection will get rusty, and the power won’t flow into the device.

So, if you’re in the same boat with rusty connections, now might be a good time to scrub away the rust.

You can rely on a homemade solution of diluted vinegar or get through some cleaners offered in the market. From there, it is not that hard to manage the cleaning cycles.

Once the rust is cleaned up, you have to let the unit dry out completely before plugging it back in. To avoid these same problems in the future, you have to focus more on the storage of your devices.

There is no point in keeping the unit where it can get damaged from water intrusion.

  1. No Harm In Servicing The Charger

Sometimes, the fix here is as simple as servicing the charger one more time. So, if you’ve yet to clean out the system, now is a good time to do so. All you need to make sure is that the battery is engaging properly with the contact points.

Once all the obstructions are removed, you can place the battery in the charger one more time. This should be enough to address all the power supply-related errors. You can either use pressured air or a fresh cloth to wipe away the gunk.

There is no debate that the majority of owners ignore the maintenance of their chargers.

So, if you’re in the same boat with the battery and won’t give much attention to the charger, try cleaning it up a bit. From there, you will notice a better charging performance.

  1. Just Get A Replacement

If the issue is not fixed at this point, you just need a fresh piece. There might be something wrong with the battery, and you can’t do much here. The only solution is to get a new piece by calling customer support.

The upside here is that the customer support is pretty decent. Even if you don’t have valid proof of purchase, you can reach out to these experts for help. They will try their best to verify and provide you with that fresh piece.

All you have to do is to reach out to these professionals and then explain the power-related errors with your pack. These experts will help you narrow down the errors and then guide you further on the replacement procedures.

Hopefully, you won’t have to worry about the same error when using a new piece!

How To Keep Your DeWalt 20V Battery in Good Condition?

There are a lot of things that you need to consider when trying to keep the battery in good condition.

From the temperature to the storage and the humidity levels, everything has to be managed accordingly. So, if you wish to know how to keep the battery in good condition, keep the following points in mind.

The first thing that you need to do is to never go below the 20 percent mark. When the battery is fully discharged, you won’t be able to charge it properly.

Furthermore, you will have to jump-start the battery from a different unit to get it to charge properly.

Second, you need to keep the battery stored in a dry box. The temperature should be moderate, with there being no moisture in the system. That is usually enough to help you through these minor problems.

Lastly, you have to avoid using the battery for extended projects. There should be sufficient breaks, and the battery should be allowed to cool down. Ideally, u won’t have to worry about much as long as you keep track of these pointers.

Is Makita Battery Better Here?

You will also find many owners comparing the DeWalt 20V battery with a Makita option. The Makita units have become pretty popular because of their better pricing and lifespan.

So, if you’re short on cash, then Makita might not be that bad of an option. It all comes down to your requirements.

However, a major issue with the Makita units is that they won’t bring as much power when compared with other brands. You will struggle to secure any response from these devices if you’re looking for pure power.

For this reason, we will recommend the DeWalt systems for demanding projects. The price is a bit higher, but you will get it when you pay for it. Just make sure to keep track of the unit maintenance, and from there, it is all smooth sailing.

Lastly, the dealer support and warranty policies are pretty similar for both brands. If you’re just going through causal DIY projects, then the differences between these brands are not significant.

You can choose either one of these options, and the unit will serve you with consistent performance.

Hopefully, you will have an amazing experience and won’t feel the need to switch!
