So, be sure to reach out to the experts with your requirements, and they will be happy to point you in the right direction.
NexTec Tools Discontinued:
NexTec is a popular series being offered by Craftsman. Although they used to be quite popular back in the day, Craftsman seems to have discontinued the lineup.
As a result, many users have been asking why the line was discontinued, as they have no idea at all.
Now, there have been no official statements from the corporate side, and owners have all been speculating about different reasons.
If you have also been wondering the same thing and want to learn more about NexTec tools being discontinued, then you should find this article quite helpful!
Through the article, we will be providing you with all the information that you need to know in order to learn more about it. Here’s everything mentioned down below!
Why Were NexTec Tools Popular?
One of the main questions that you will ask yourself about the NexTec system is why these tools were popular.
Well, the short answer here is that they were cheap and brought forward amazing performance. So, you were sure to get a decent enough response from these units when sticking with a smaller price.
This decreased price can be considered the main driving factor, as the customers were lining up to get their hands on these units.
They didn’t even bother spending more than 50 bucks on some of these units, and sales further fueled the popularity of this brand.
While you will not find any expert relying on these tools, these light-duty options were pretty common among casual workmen. Moreover, the torque was enough to get through the majority of smaller projects.
This was the main reason behind the popularity of the lineup, and it kept on increasing until owners decided to switch to a more robust option down the road.
This system can be considered a starter system and doesn’t work well for industry-grade projects.
Why Was It Discontinued?
Now, the next question arises if these tools were so popular, why were they discontinued? Shouldn’t more popular tools be kept running in the portfolio for brand awareness and sales volume? Well, the answer here is not that simple.
While there was no official statement released by the parent company, some owners speculated that the margins were not that great on this brand. The cheaper price tag without compromising on the quality of the unit did bleed the profit margins.
So, these tools were slowly phased out of the brand, and you can no longer get your hands on this system if you try to source them directly from a direct dealer. This discontinuation of the tools also had an impact on the pricing of these tools.
Now, you will only find them listed on secondary markets like eBay for four to five times their original price. So, if you’re wondering whether or not you can still get your hands on these tools, here are some details.
Can You Still Use Discontinued Products?
Whenever talking about discontinued products, the very first thing that comes to mind is whether you can even use them or not.
While there’s necessarily no harm in using these products, and they should work completely fine, you will experience difficulties in case they start causing issues.
These units will be available on secondary markets like eBay, and the prices are far from reasonable.
Most of the owners list these units as trophy items, and you will struggle to find a good deal. So, we will actually discourage you if you’re planning on purchasing these tools.
The pricing was the main selling point behind this brand, and the explosive increase in prices after discontinuation leaves no reason as to why you should spend money on this unit. So, be sure to keep that in mind when you can’t seem to make the final decision.
Ideally, going with other options is the better idea, but you can always try your luck with finding the right deal. If you can get something close to the 50-dollar price point, you will surely be able to set up the system perfectly.
Just make sure that you’re getting a unit that is in good shape.
Apart from that, there really shouldn’t be any risk attached to using these products, even if they are discontinued. In fact, if you already own a pair of NexTec tools, you can keep on using them without having to worry about much.
Can You Still Find These Tools?
For those of you wondering whether they can still get their hands on the tools even after the line is discontinued, then yes, you can.
However, it largely depends on the region where you currently reside in along with how much you are willing to pay for the cordless drill.
Even though there’s nothing wrong with the drill itself, you might notice people selling it well above how much it should usually cost you.
The reason behind the high pricing is simply the fact that they are discontinued. As discontinued products are usually really rare to find, which is precisely why you will find most people selling them at a really high price.
Should You Buy Them?
As the lineup has long been discontinued, the question remains as to whether you should purchase it if you can find these tools.
While there’s no denying the fact that these tools are great to use, it is important to note that investing in a discontinued lineup isn’t really a good idea.
Even if the cordless drill fills in all of your needs, you will have a hard time finding the right parts for the drill if some issue occurs. Similarly, there won’t be any warranty on the products. Not to mention that you will also not be able to get help from support.
What Should You Do?
As buying NexTec tools isn’t really recommended, most of you may wonder what you should be doing then. Luckily, there is a wide range of alternatives that you can opt for. But first, you will need to determine your needs and requirements.
In case you were planning on buying a cordless drill, then instead of NexTec, you can opt for the impact driver set found at Home Depot.
That being said, there are various other alternatives that should all fit your needs once you filter out your exact requirements.
We suggest that you look toward more established brands like Milwaukee and DeWalt to find the right fit. Figuring out the best option can be hard, to say the least.
However, if you are planning on expanding your kit with options that will serve your needs perfectly, then going with these brands is better.
You shouldn’t always look at the price tag when finalizing the purchase and try to put more value on the quality and performance side of things.
That way, you will not be disappointed with the final results and will be able to find the right fit for your workshop in no time.
Lastly, you should also try to get some pointers from an expert, and he will make your job much easier.
The Bottom Line:
Are NexTec tools discontinued? While it has been years since the whole lineup was discontinued, there are a whole number of alternatives that you can go for instead. So, there is no need to worry about sticking to these items only.
Likewise, you can still find good deals on NexTec tools if you are lucky enough. Though we don’t really recommend choosing a discontinued lineup. In order to learn more about this, be sure to refer to the article above!
Hopefully, you will be able to figure out which option to choose to best optimize your workshop. It all comes down to how you’re planning on addressing the situation, and keeping track of all of these pointers will make your life easier down the road.
This is especially true for owners that are new to the market and don’t know which units will best serve their requirements. So, if you’re in the same boat, be sure to test out your options, and you will likely be able to find the right unit for your house.

It’s unfortunate that there’s no third-party options for chargers or batteries.
I have lots of Nextec tools and batteries and they work great! I do have one problem, I cant find replacement blades for my Nextec Multi Saw. They are backwards from every other blade out there. Do you have them to purchase or might you know where I can get them.
